Who we see

Babies, children, teenagers and adults with cleft lip and/or cleft palate: from the first operations in a baby's first months to revision surgery for people who were operated on before, in Spain or in another country.

How it works

1. Send us your case. Use the form or WhatsApp: the patient's age, the diagnosis, any previous operations and, if you have them, photos and medical reports.
2. Dr. Sierra reviews it personally. We reply within 24 hours.
3. A first consultation, remotely. By video call, Dr. Sierra goes through the history, photos and studies with you and explains the options.
4. A treatment plan for your case. Which operation is needed, when, and what it involves.
5. Surgery in Barcelona. With Dr. Sierra and his multidisciplinary team.

How long you stay in Barcelona

It depends on each case: the type of surgery, the patient's age and how recovery goes. Dr. Sierra will tell you what to expect for your case before surgery is scheduled.

Follow-up after you go home

Follow-up also depends on each case. Dr. Sierra explains which check-ups are needed for your case and how they will be done.

Why families come from abroad

Dr. Nico Sierra's practice is dedicated exclusively to cleft lip and palate. He completed a fellowship in Craniofacial and Cleft Lip and Palate Surgery at the Federal University of Paraná (UFPR), Brazil, and is Medical Director of Clínica Tresserra in Barcelona and a member of the Paediatric Maxillofacial Surgery Unit at Vall d'Hebron University Hospital.

From 2019 to 2024 he was Medical Director of the Mobile Surgery International (MSI) cleft care centre in Oaxaca, Mexico, where more than 700 patients were seen and more than 550 reconstructive operations were performed.

He has taken part in surgical missions on four continents with Operation Smile.
